How to Renew Driving License in Riyadh Saudi Arabia

It was about 2 days ago when I renewed my Saudi Driving license, It was a surprise how easy to renew the driving license in Riyadh compared to other country. The actual renewal of my driving license took only 10 minutes. Here is the instruction on how to do it:

  • Before going to the police station, you need to pay via internet or via ATM the amount of 400 Riyals ( 10 Years) . You just have to know your IQAMA number and choose driving license renewal via Sadad Bill Payment. ( If you don’t have bank account- there are Saudi’s in the police station who will offer to transfer money to your account via mobile transfer but with an additional fee)
  • After payment, proceed to the Police station (For me I went to Malaz area near the Security forces hospital, The hardest things is to get the parking space)
  • When inside renewal area proceed to the specific police officer  that receives driving license renewal.
  • Just give your old driving license and your iqama. He will just update the system with your new mobile phone number and then he will let you sit down for a while.
  • In juts after 5 to 10 minutes you will be called and you will get your new license effective for 10 years. ( No need to fill up the application form)

I must congratulate Saudi Arabia Traffic Department for having a very fast service on driving license renewal.

I just received a query on how to check the internet speed of your connection. So here is the instruction.

How To Check Speed of STC , Mobily or Go Internet Connection ?

In order to get your actual speed in your computer you need to go to speedtest.net , on that site just press Begin Test , wait for some time, and the site will give you the details of your download speed and upload speed. Through this you will be able to see the speed that you are getting in your computer.

It will also depend on how many computers are connected to your network, The site will measure the the speed at your own computer and not the speed given by STC, Mobily or Go.

You may check the settings of your router where it will normally tell you the signal strength that the mobile company is giving. I hope this will help future visitor looking fro this kind of information.

Sale Alert : Splash, Bossini and Citymax on Sale Upto 75%

We just receive a text message that Splash and Bossini is still on sale  and their having their further reduction. On the other hand we went 2 days ago at Citimax Sulemania and they are also having their sale. Some of the dress cost only SR 5, SAR 10.

There is an item that we bought which we thought has 50% discount and then when I pay the counter we found out that the item has 75% discount. So good for me.

Citymax really gives great discount on clothing’s. I don’t know when did they start having sale. I just saw it from the street.

Unsubscribing To STC or Mobily Facebook SMS Service

facebook-logoSome of my colleagues in the office are asking on how they can unsubscribed to facebook sms which keep on charging 3 SAR. So upon searching the net, here is a suggestion that I found.

"To unsubscribe the facebook sms service just type `u` and send it to the 86677"

To unsubscribe the Facebook sms service just type `U` and send it to the 86677. For mobily users send it to 606050 and I assure you will be free from the facebook sms service for real! – Rajan

Based on the comments from above mentioned details it works like charm. In addition you can turn off the mobile notification in your Facebook settings to prevent updating your mobile. But please be advise that you will still be charge with 75 halala for STC on unsubscribing to this service.

I hope this deactivation procedure will help searches for this problem.

We just get an information that there is an ongoing promotion for SAWA users. SAWA users can get an unlimited text message for 24 hours for a price of 5 SAR. This is good for those who send more than 20 text message a day ( An SMS cost 0.25 per text message on the same STC network) . But there is a catch, it is only applicable to STC network.

So here is the instruction on how to activate the unlimited text promotion. :
