Blackberry Porsche “P’9981” Design Review
We would like to give our review for the 2nd blackberry unit that was lend to us by their PR agency here in Riyadh. I am referring to Blackberry Porsche “P’9981″Â Design. The mentioned unit is the most expensive unit of BlackBerry as of this time. Based on the price that I saw online it cost SAR 6,500+.
The phone was released last December 2011. I believed that the price was based on it’s physical appearance, it is styled by Porsche Design, forged in stainless steel, finished in leather and powered by Blackberry. The Porsche Design P’9981 Smartphone from Blackberry is engineered luxury at its finest.
We have tested this phone to be on standby mode for almost 10 days and the battery still works, it has a superb battery performance. An enhanced 1.2 GHz processor and 8 GB of onboard memory powers a responsive and nimble browsing experience. Additional 16GB micro SD included in box.

In my humble opinion, this phone is a luxury phone in which only those who can afford could buy it. There are other competitors that could match the performance of this phone but not its physical out look. Other experience is just the same as the BlackBerry Bold 9900 that we have reviewed before. Using this phone is just as if you are using BlackBerry Bold 9900 with a different casing. Personally I like Bold 9900 compared to this phone, I based my judgment due to the functionality of the phone and not it’s physical appearance. Of course when it comes to its physical appearance and not considering the phone price I would definitely choose the Porsche compared to other Blackberry Smartphone. I like the durability of it’s casing as well as the feel of having a leather covered phone.
On a side note, I also love it’s qwerty keyboard.
There are lots of competitor that could give a better performance compared to Blackberry Porsche but owning a Porsche design Blackberry will definitely show the personality of the owner of this phone.
Here are some of the unboxing photos that I took:
