RIM to Showcase BlackBerry 7 Smartphones and BlackBerry PlayBook at GITEX

RIM will be showcasing the brand new BlackBerryÂ® Curveâ„¢ 9220 and BlackBerryÂ® Curveâ„¢ 9320 smartphones. These new additions to the BlackBerryÂ® 7 smartphone portfolio are stylish and compact with social-centric features that make it incredibly easy for customers to stay connected and share more with friends and family. Both smartphones feature the best keyboards in their class for quick and easy typing and come with a dedicated BBMâ„¢ (BlackBerryÂ® Messenger) key, which is a new feature that brings the power of RIMâ€™s popular mobile social network up in an instant. The new Curve models also feature a built-in FM radio and a longer lasting battery that allows customers to make the most of their day.
The BlackBerry Curve 9220 and the BlackBerry Curve 9320 come with the new BlackBerryÂ® 7.1 OS, which was announced in the Middle East earlier this month and is also available for download for the BlackBerryÂ® Boldâ„¢ 9900, BlackBerryÂ® Torchâ„¢ 9810 and 9860, BlackBerryÂ® Curveâ„¢ 9360 and 9380, and the Porsche Design Pâ€™9981 smartphone from BlackBerryÂ®.
With BlackBerry 7.1, customers will now be able to share contacts, information and content by simply tapping their NFC-enabled BlackBerry smartphone against another NFC-enabled BlackBerry smartphone. BlackBerry 7.1 also features an enhanced Universal Search function, which auto-suggests and intelligently filters BingÂ® search results, offering customers a variety of relevant web sites based on their search terms.
RIM will also be demonstrating the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet running the new PlayBook OS 2.0 software. Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tabletâ€™s proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements as well as expanded app support.
A BlackBerry technical support team will be available at GITEX to help attendees with technical questions and to share tips and tricks (such as how to switch devices and perform software updates). Attendees with a BlackBerry smartphone can also make use of the free battery charging service at the booth.
