Riyadh Metro Project Worth $22.5 Billion Awarded to Three Consortium

Deals worth a total of $9.45bn have been handed to Bechtel to develop lines one and two of the six-line network, while a consortium led by Spain’s FCC has been awarded a $7.82bn contract for lines four, five and six. A third group led by Ansaldo STS of Italy has won a $5.21bn deal build the third line.
The project was unveiled last night by Saudi Officials. The project will start at the first quarter of next year and will be completed by 2019. It has a total of 176 Km network which will include 85 stations and has an anticipated 30,000 workers to deliver it.
This will be good for a long term plan for Saudi Arabia, but for those living in Riyadh at the moment, we might feel some traffic in the near future. Within 4 years they plan to complete the construction of this railway.
